The Sacrifice follows Alexander, a retired actor and intellectual whose quiet birthday celebration is interrupted by news of an imminent nuclear catastrophe. Faced with the apparent end of the world, he makes a desperate vow in the hope of saving his family and humanity. Marking Andrei Tarkovsky's final film, it combines hypnotic long takes, haunting imagery, and profound spiritual reflection into a meditative exploration of faith, sacrifice, and redemption.
