From the host
As written on Meetup.
Directed by: Charlie Chaplin
Starring: Charles Chaplin, Paulette Goddard, Jack Oakie
Runtime: 2h 5m (125 minutes)
Year: 1940
A Jewish barber returns from the First World War with no memory of the years since, unaware that his country has fallen under a dictatorship and that he bears an uncanny resemblance to its leader. Chaplin's first full sound film pairs meticulous physical comedy with open political attack, released in 1940 while the United States was still formally at peace with Nazi Germany.
