About “The Lighthouse”

Directed by: Robert Eggers

Starring: Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe

Runtime: 1 hour and 49 minutes
Year: 2019

On a desolate, storm-battered New England rock, two isolated lighthouse keepers wage a doomed battle to maintain their sanity against the unforgiving elements and each other. What begins as a grueling stint of manual labor spirals into a mythological nightmare of paranoia and cabin fever, revealing a monstrous psychological landscape where guilt, superstition, and toxic authority fuse into a singular, inescapable madness. Visually breathtaking in its claustrophobic black-and-white yet crushing in its intensity, this Oscar-nominated film serves as a searing descent into the darkest depths of the human psyche.

The film is in English with Dutch subtitles.
