Charles is a charming but commitment-shy Englishman whose romantic life consists of awkward encounters, missed opportunities, and an endless succession of weddings. Surrounded by his close-knit group of friends, he seems perfectly happy avoiding serious relationships, until an unexpected encounter with Carrie, a captivating American woman, begins to challenge everything he believes about love.
As Charles and his friends reunite at different weddings and social gatherings, romantic complications, misunderstandings, and unexpected emotions gradually reveal the complexities of friendship and commitment. What begins as a series of amusing encounters becomes a touching exploration of the choices, coincidences, and relationships that shape our lives.
Directed by Mike Newell and written by Richard Curtis, Four Weddings and a Funeral is one of the most beloved British romantic comedies of the 1990s. Combining sharp dialogue, quintessentially British humour, memorable performances, and moments of genuine tenderness, the film explores love, friendship, loss, and the fear of commitment.
