Wild Horse Nine
Set against the political turmoil of Chile in 1973, shortly before the military coup, Wild Horse Nine follows two CIA agents, Chris and Lee, who are sent from Santiago to the remote and mysterious Easter Island by their superior, MJ. Surrounded by the island's extraordinary landscapes and iconic stone statues, the two longtime partners find themselves confronting unresolved secrets from their past.
As their assignment unfolds, Chris develops an unexpected connection with two rebellious young students, complicating an already delicate mission. Political tensions, personal loyalties, and unresolved questions gradually transform their seemingly straightforward assignment into a much more unpredictable situation, forcing the characters to confront the consequences of their choices.
Written and directed by Martin McDonagh, Wild Horse Nine brings together the filmmaker's distinctive combination of dark humour, morally complex characters, sharp dialogue, and unexpected emotional depth. Following acclaimed films such as In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and The Banshees of Inisherin, McDonagh returns with a story exploring friendship, guilt, political power, and personal responsibility against an extraordinary historical backdrop.
